49ers Will Look To Host Another Super Bowl At Levi's Stadium No Later Than '24

49ers President Al Guido yesterday said that it is a "realistic goal" for the team to "bring back the Super Bowl to Levi's Stadium" no later than '24, according to Matt Maiocco of CSNBAYAREA.com. Guido: "I look at Arizona as a benchmark. They did two Super Bowls in seven years. I think if we can do two in 10 years, that would be really great for the city. We have the 2019 college football national championship game, so we can't do it then. But we're really going to be putting in for Super Bowls 56, 57 and 58 is what we're going to be bidding on." He added, "We're going to respond to an RFP that gets sent out from the NFL in the next 18 to 24 months" (CSNBAYAREA.com, 8/10).

THE GOOD OL' DAYS: In Sacramento, Matt Barrows noted the 49ers are celebrating their 70th season this year, and coach Chip Kelly has "not hesitated to embrace the team's rich past." After being hired, Kelly "reached out to prominent former 49ers -- including Joe Montana, Steve Young and Ronnie Lott -- and several since have visited team headquarters." The 49ers yesterday held practice at Kezar Stadium, the team's home from '46-'70. The 49ers, who have not practiced at Kezar since '04, were struck by the "humble, spartan feel of the team's original stadium." 49ers OT Anthony Davis said, "The bathrooms in there were from, like, the 1940's, and I thought that was cool." A number of players who "suited up at Kezar" in the '60s "were in the stands" yesterday (SACBEE.com, 8/10). In S.F., Scott Ostler writes Kezar Stadium "would be a great home for a pro football team." Ostler: "Heart of the city, cooling breezes. Not one case of sunstroke reported Wednesday. The Raiders should check this place out" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 8/11).
