Honey Badgers: Review Details Recent Sports Partnerships Signed By Univ. Of Wisconsin

Aspire Beverages in June signed a two-year deal with the Univ. of Wisconsin, and as part of the contract, UW takes 10% of Aspire's "net sales revenue within the state of Wisconsin," according to a review of the school's recent business partnerships by Chris Bumbaca of the WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL. Aspire will provide UW with $381,129 worth of products. Meanwhile, retail company Gold Country "will handle merchandising rights for UW Athletics." Gold Country will also pay UW $300,000 for sales not exceeding $1.5M. Fanatics will "operate Bucky's Locker Room's online store" and will "have exclusive rights to brand its stores in third party marketplaces." UW makes 5% of the net merchandise revenue. The "minimum guarantee benchmarks" are $250,000 in year one. Meanwhile, Fermata Partners will "oversee the athletic department's licensing programs." UW will receive 90% of the first $4.6M in annual revenue, 85% of the next $4.6M and 90% of annual revenues more than $9.2M. Fermata Partners "will contribute a bonus in the first year of contract between $275,000 and $350,000." They will also contribute $35,000 to a "marketing fund in the first year" (WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL, 8/9).
