Rams Cancel L.A. Legends Game Over Low Sales, Expect Big Crowd For Coliseum Practice

A Rams Legends flag football game scheduled in L.A., similar in format to one held in St. Louis on July 23 but involving Rams from both the L.A. and St. Louis teams, "has been cancelled," according to Jim Thomas of the ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH. The game "had been scheduled for Aug. 14, at the StubHub Center." A rep at StubHub Center ticket office, when asked why the event was cancelled, replied, "Low sales." Meanwhile, the Rams are "expecting a huge crowd for Saturday's training camp scrimmage" at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum, "perhaps as many as 80,000, and could be putting more efforts into promoting that event" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 8/3). SPORTING NEWS' Ron Clements wrote the game's cancellation "might be a minor victory for shunned Rams fans in St. Louis." The city "may no longer have the Rams, but at least the celebratory game" at The Dome at America's Center "went on as planned" (SPORTINGNEWS.com, 8/2).
