Ohio State-Oklahoma Secondary Market Prices Among Highest Of College Football Season

Ticket prices for the Ohio State-Oklahoma football game Sept. 17 at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium are averaging $418 on the secondary market, making it the "sixth-most expensive ticket among college games this season," according to Nicholas Piotrowicz of the Toledo BLADE. The minimum price of admission is the highest in college football by a "wide margin, far surpassing any other primetime regular-season game" and even the CFP. OU announced July 21 that the game was "sold out, but the secondary ticket market remains especially active." According to SeatGeek, as of Monday the "cheapest ticket for admission" was $314. By comparison, a ticket to both CFP semifinals -- the Peach and Fiesta Bowls -- could be purchased for $368 total. Demand for the OSU-OU ticket "looks to have increased steadily since spring." SeatGeek data shows the "median listing price on March 1 was $407; on Monday the median listing price was $593," an increase of nearly 46%. SeatGeek Content Analyst Chris Leyden said, "Typically, for about 90 percent of sporting events we see prices drop from when the tickets go on sale to the day of the game or show." Leyden added that for most sporting events there is a "supply-demand breaking point," even if OSU-OU "hasn't found its plateau yet" (Toledo BLADE, 8/2).
