Facility Notes

In Minneapolis, Rochelle Olson in a front-page piece cites a source as saying that a broken window at the ground level of U.S. Bank Stadium will likely "take six to eight weeks to receive and install a new pane because the glass is custom to the building." The break "leaves the building in less-than-perfect conditions" for its ribbon-cutting ceremony tomorrow. The source added that the glass was "broken by someone walking along the north side of the building who picked up a rock and threw it at the ground-level wall of glass" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 7/21).

SUGAR CANE: Miami AD Blake James said that he "knows the person whose name will likely be blazoned" on the school's indoor football practice facility. In Miami, Susan Miller Degnan notes that person "still hasn't been officially announced." James said, "I believe that we have the individual who is going to make the gift. But as with anything, until we finalize the agreement with them it's not something that we're able to announce because we don't have an agreement in place. As soon as we have an agreement in place, which I believe we have the person that will make that commitment, we'll make an announcement" (MIAMI HERALD, 7/21).

ISLAND GREEN: In Florida, Jennifer Logue notes TPC Sawgrass is "preparing for the next phase" of its $50M renovation. TPC Sawgrass GM Bill Hughes "outlined for chamber members a number of the major upgrades happening this summer, including re-grassing all the greens with new varieties of grass, enlarging eight greens and lengthening two holes." The 12th hole is also "being completely redesigned" (Ponte Vedra RECORDER, 7/21).
