T'Wolves Owner Taylor Alludes To Possible New Jerseys, Logos In Coming Seasons

T'Wolves Owner Glen Taylor said that the team "could soon have a new look" with new jerseys and new logos, according to Nick Halter of the MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL BUSINESS JOURNAL. He "wouldn’t say if a rebrand is coming" before the '16-17 season, though it "might make more sense" before the '17-18 season, when Target Center’s renovation will be complete. The last major rebranding of the T'Wolves came in '96, "right after Taylor bought the team." Some "tweaks were made" in '08 and '09, but a "growling wolf face has been the team’s main image for 20 years." Taylor said that the team is "already looking for a jersey sponsor and said the Wolves are casting a large net in its search for a partner company" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/14).

CULTURE CLUB: New T'Wolves Minority Owner Lizhang Jiang when asked why he chose to invest said, “The Timberwolves have been quite popular in China already thanks to when the team was led by Kevin Garnett. The team has already gathered a huge number of fans in China. The team has demonstrated the spirit of a wolf, which is everything about teamwork, persistence and acumen. These qualities are in line with the Chinese culture.” He added, “The other reason I wanted to choose the Minnesota Timberwolves is also because of Mr. Glen Taylor, who is such a charming person. He has strong charisma and business acumen. These are very attractive qualities. He is also the chairman of the NBA [BOG]. There is a lot for me to learn from him" (USA TODAY, 7/15).
