Stanton's Record Performance Forces Marlins To Tweak Derby-Related Ticket Offer

The Marlins were “offering up to the fans last night” a ticket discount based on RF Giancarlo Stanton’s participation in the Home Run Derby, but the team had to qualify the offer after Stanton won the event with a record 61 homers, according to ESPN’s Jaymee Sire. The team sent an email to fans “promoting a percentage point off future Marlins tickets for every home run” Stanton hit during the event. Sire: “So a $100 ticket is now $39, right? Not exactly.” Marlins President David Samson said that while the terms “were not specified in the initial email,” MLBAM, which runs the team’s website, “sets a maximum on these types of offers at 25%” (“SportsCenter,” ESPN, 7/12). The Marlins following Stanton’s win said they will have a “special 61% off offer” for their July 29 game against the Cardinals (Marlins).
