Demand On Secondary Ticket Market Down Sharply For Home Run Derby, All-Star Game

Secondary ticket market list prices for tonight’s MLB Home Run Derby in San Diego are down more than 23% from last year’s event in Cincinnati, continuing a trend toward softer resale markets around this year’s All-Star Game events. According to N.Y.-based ticket aggregator TiqIQ, average listing prices for tonight’s Derby are $270.55, down from $353.07 at a comparable point a year ago prior to last year’s Derby at Great American Ball Park. Average listing prices for tomorrow’s All-Star Game, meanwhile, are down by even greater percentages. TiqIQ data shows average listings of $512.10 for the All-Star Game, down more than 40% from a comparable $857.64 last year. Multiple factors are believed to be feeding the relative softness, including the distance from San Diego to East Coast hotbeds of baseball fandom.
