The Players’ Tribune named former Showtime exec MICHAEL CROTTY as its first CFO. Crotty started on Thursday and will report to TPT President JAYMEE MESSLER. Crotty was most recently Showtime Senior VP/Affiliate Revenue & Business Operations. At TPT, he will be responsible for revenue forecast development, expense management, investor relations, process infrastructure and general operations as well as strategic planning (Liz Mullen, Staff Writer).

DIAMOND EXCHANGE: MLB named former Fox Sports Dir of Communications ILEANA PENA Senior Dir of Business Communications. Pena had been with Fox for 17 years, and earlier this year accepted a buyout. Pena will start during next week’s All-Star Game events in San Diego, and will report to VP/Business PR MATT BOURNE. She will in particular handle communications efforts in areas such as TV, marketing, player promotion and with Spanish-language media outlets (Eric Fisher, Staff Writer).

EXECS: The WNBA Dallas Wings named The Marketing Arm Senior VP/Sports MARY O'CONNOR President of Business Operations (Wings). O'Connor was an SBJ/SBD "Forty Under 40" winner in '09 (THE DAILY)....ESPN promoted Senior Coordinating Producer JILL FREDERICKSON to VP/SportsCenter & News, Editorial Operations and Senior Coordinating Producer DWAYNE BRAY to Senior Coordinating Producer/Enterprise Unit within the SportsCenter & News group. The company also named PATRICIA MAYS and GREG JEWELL Coordinating Producers (ESPN)....USA Rugby named Life Univ. AD DAN PAYNE CEO, effective Aug. 1 (MARIETTA DAILY JOURNAL, 7/8)....Roc Nation Sports COO DAVID ITSKOWITCH has resigned after nearly two years, and "did not give a reason." But he said that the parting "was amicable" (ESPN.com, 7/7)....USC Senior Associate AD J.K. MCKAY "is no longer part of the program." He said that his role ended when new AD LYNN SWANN took over from PAT HADEN (L.A. TIMES, 7/8)....Colorado State Univ. named Univ. of Pittsburgh Exec Associate AD/External Operations CHRIS FERRIS Senior Associate AD/Sales, Marketing & Communications (CSU)....Johnson & Wales Univ. promoted women's basketball coach TRUDI LACEY to AD (J&W)....Colgate Univ. promoted ANN-MARIE GUGLIERI to Chief of Staff, JAMIE MITCHELL to Associate AD and ANGELA MARATHAKIS to Assistant AD (Colgate).
