Olympic Athlete Input Key In Adidas' Designs For Rio Games Golf Uniforms

adidas Global Product Marketing Dir Davide Mattucci this morning said the brand worked with golfers "on insights in terms of fabrics" when designing its Olympic uniforms, as well as "in terms of fit." Appearing on Golf Channel's "Morning Drive," Mattucci said, "We worked very closely with the USA Golf team to determine the designs that worked, the silhouettes that really resonated with the players and the women’s range is actually much, much broader than the men’s just because of the variety of different looks that the females require on their side.” Mattucci said the "Brazilian-inspired lace detail" that runs throughout the entire women's uniform "ties the whole thing together." He added, "We’ve had fantastic access to the players, we’ve sat down with them during fittings, we’ve talked about every single detail of these products to make sure that ... they look good, so in order to do that, we have to make sure that the product does exactly what we expect it to do and what they expect it to do. ... adidas just has such a rich history within the game, and so to be involved in bringing golf back in a very small way is something that we took very, very seriously" (“Morning Drive,” Golf Channel, 7/6).
