Overnight Ratings: Phelps-Lochte Showdown Helps Swim Trials Lead July 4 Weekend

The overnight rating for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials on Friday night led all sports telecasts from over the July 4 weekend. NBC on Friday from 8:00-9:00pm ET drew a 3.3 overnight for swimming coverage, which included Michael Phelps holding off Ryan Lochte to win the 200-meter individual medley. NBC also drew a 3.2 overnight for the first night of coverage at the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials on Friday.

BIG HITTERS: CBS drew a 2.1 overnight for the final round of the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational on Sunday, which saw Dustin Johnson win by one stroke over Scott Piercy. That figure is down from a 2.7 overnight last year in early August, when Shane Lowry held off Bubba Watson by two strokes.
