Texans Investor Philip Burguieres, "Right-Hand Man" To Bob McNair, Passes Away At 72

Texans investor PHILIP BURGUIERES, who "played a key role" in helping team Owner BOB MCNAIR "bring the NFL back to Houston, died Thursday night" at the age of 72, according to John McClain of the HOUSTON CHRONICLE. Burguieres served as McNair's "right-hand man with the Texans and other business ventures for decades." Funeral services are "pending for Burguieres, who chaired Fortune 500 companies" and served on the BOD of numerous Houston companies (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 7/2). McNair in a statement said, "As most of you know, Philip worked tirelessly with me to bring an NFL franchise back to Houston in the late 1990's. He was instrumental to the success of the Texans ... He was a long-time friend of mine and a mentor to many and will be greatly missed" (Texans).
