SportTechie Startup Profile Series: Eventride Is A Ride-Share App That Connects Fans For Carpools To The Game

New technology from startup ventures is transforming the sports industry. The mission of this series is to introduce startup companies in the sports technology space to a broader audience and allow Founders of promising new ventures to tell their story. Feel free to contact us if you know of a startup that should be considered for this series.

Company name: Eventride

CEO: Rod Bruinooge

Headquarters: Winnipeg, Manitoba

1. What is your elevator pitch?

Eventride is a new and innovative carpool app that focuses on critical mass events and allows users to give or get a ride cheaper and more efficiently than the competition, while also allowing them to help protect the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

2. Problem & Solution

Problem: A number of cities with major league sports teams face congestion problems on the commute to the game and in finding parking once they arrive. Additionally, fans taking their own vehicles or taking traditional taxis pay a premium to get to the game, while also making it difficult to return home if they have chosen to consume alcohol.

Solution: Eventride allows fans to leave their cars at home and take a secure, cost-effective ride that is protected by each user’s Facebook credentials. The fan can now allocate this money onto other consumables during the game.

3. Market – your target market and the overall market

Our initial target market are cities with major league baseball franchises as this is the professional league with the most games and the largest overall annual attendance.

4. Business Model – how do you make money?

Eventride takes a 15% operating fee from each ride in order to ensure the integrity of the network and build out a more robust and universal infrastructure.

5. Management Team – with titles

Chantale Bruinooge: President

Rod Bruinooge: CEO

Blake Friesen: Chief Transportation Officer

Kevin Evans: CIO

Lawrence Toet: VP of Business Development

Mike DeLuca: Director of Marketing & Communications

Kris Peterson: Sr. Database Analyst

6. What else do you want the audience to know about your venture?

Eventride has a focus on helping reduce the number of vehicles on the road in order to offset emissions and help reduce congestion to and from the game.
