DeWalt Extends Sponsorship With Matt Kenseth's No. 20 Car For Two Additional Years

Joe Gibbs Racing on Thursday announced that DeWalt will "expand its sponsorship" of Matt Kenseth's No. 20 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car for the next two years, according to Jeff Gluck of USA TODAY. Kenseth's sponsorship will "increase from six to 10 races this season, then rise to 15 races" in '17. JGR has been looking for a company to replace Dollar General, which "sponsored Kenseth's car for 30 races per season." Kenseth's relationship with DeWalt can be "traced back to his rookie season" in '99, a deal that lasted until '09. DeWalt has been more "associated with Kenseth than any of his other sponsors have been through the years" (USATODAY.com, 6/30). ESPN.com's Bob Pockrass noted Kenseth still has "open races to be sponsored" for '17. The additional DeWalt races will not "impact the 12 races a year Stanley Black & Decker has committed" to Carl Edwards' and his JGR No. 19 through its Stanley Brand (ESPN.com, 6/30). FOXSPORTS.com's Tom Jensen noted DeWalt next year also will be a "primary sponsor in a total of six NASCAR Xfinity Series races with JGR drivers Erik Jones and Daniel Suarez" (FOXSPORTS.com, 6/30).
