Media Notes

New SI Editorial Dir Chris Stone said the company is going to "redesign our website" by the end of July. Stone said, "That's a critical first step for us, because we have premium content right now. Between our exclusives, the evolution of our video initiatives and the creation of these new verticals -- we're also developing an NBA vertical in the fall -- every day, we have something that we can look at from a content standpoint that we can be extraordinarily proud of. But we need to shore up the product piece of this, and that starts with the website" (ADWEEK.com, 6/15).

TAKE IT ALL IN: In L.A., Lance Pugmire noted Jim Lampley "absorbed all of the reactions and scenes that followed" Muhammad Ali's death and "produced a fitting closing essay to his HBO show 'The Fight Game.'" Lampley: "Instinct tells us we may never see another public figure from the sports world whose impact and legacy will equal that of Muhammad Ali. But experience makes clear that if somehow that person emerges to affect people's emotions in the same way, he ... or she ... will be a fighter" (L.A. TIMES, 6/15).

PLAY IT SMART: In N.Y., Kit Eaton reviewed several apps that "help fans keep up" with news surrounding the Euro '16. The official UEFA app is "easy to navigate," but there is "little to explain what is going on and not much in the way of emotionally charged content to pique your interest." The Onefootball app "sometimes lacks polish," but "for a news source that is up-to-date and dynamic and includes video, this app ... is the one." Eaton also reviewed apps including Forza Football, Dream League Soccer '16 and Stickman Soccer '16 (NYTIMES.com, 6/15).
