Heat Could Be In Line To Host Future All-Star Game, Possibly As Soon As '19

The Heat "have not been approached" about hosting the '17 NBA All-Star Game should Charlotte lose it due to HB2, but the league "has been in touch with the team about hosting the event in the near future," according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida SUN-SENTINEL. This would mark only the second time South Florida has hosted the event, and "first since the game was held at Miami Arena" in '90. Heat President of Business Operations Eric Woolworth said, "The NBA has made it clear to us that they would like to try figure out how to come to Miami." The '18 NBA ASG is at Staples Center. That would leave the Heat "with somewhat limited upcoming options," with the '20 Super Bowl scheduled in South Florida. Concerns have also been raised about "venue and hotel availability due to the conflict" with the Miami Int'l Boat Show, which, like the NBA ASG, "is scheduled for President's Weekend" in February. Woolworth said that '19 "would stand as the earliest" possible year to host the ASG (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 6/16).
