Phoenix-area developers "as soon as next year" could begin construction on "Attesa," a $500M motorsports complex "with full-size race and test tracks for cars and motorcycles, luxury homes and a private airport," according to Maria Polletta of the ARIZONA REPUBLIC. Plans are expected to be finalized by the end of '16. Danrick Builders President Pat Johnson, a former owner of Phoenix Int'l Raceway, said that the project "will address increased national demand for industry-specific research-and-development space while drawing tourists, jobs and affluent professionals to the Phoenix and Tuscon metro areas." Danrick Builders "is financing the complex." Johnson said, "We're trying to create a group of people who aren't just racing fans, but are about the technology of motorsports." Polletta notes the focal point of Attesa will be two 2.8-mile "professional-grade racing tracks." Attesa also would be used to "host racing festivals, car and motorcycle shows, product launches, corporate events and farmers markets." A 24-acre multipurpose center would be used for "motocross, supercross, and off-road racing, as well as concerts, festivals and fairs." An RV park and resort hotel "would provide lodging for fans and industry professionals." Economic and real-estate consulting firm Elliot D. Pollack & Co. is "working to analyze the project's potential economic impact." Plans for the complex "will require county approval to move forward."
