Golf Channel has brought on the following execs: Toronto-based Shaw Media VP/Content Acquisitions for Global TV Programming, Marketing & Digital PHIL PIAZZA as Senior VP/Programming; Turner Sports VP/Business Operations JON KROPP as VP/Digital Strategy; Discovery Communications VP/Media Planning & Strategy MARY STACK as VP/Marketing Strategy; and Cuban-Wagner Inc. VP/Communications KEVIN ENDSLEY as Senior Dir of Franchise Development & Innovation. Golf Channel also promoted Dir of Instruction KEVIN SCHULTZ to Senior Dir of Lifestyle Content (Golf Channel).

EXECS: Under Armour announced DAVE DOMBROW will return to the company in the newly created role of Chief Design Officer, beginning Aug. 1. Dombrow previously was UA Senior VP/Creative Footwear & Accessories (UA). Dombrow, who left his prior role in March, was "planning to start at Nike next year under terms of a non-compete agreement." His planned defection "was seen as a win" for Nike (BALTIMORESUN.com, 6/9)....The Atlanta Sports Council promoted Exec Dir DAN CORSO to President (THE DAILY)....UConn named former Univ. of Minnesota interim AD BETH GOETZ COO for Athletics. Goetz "filled in as interim AD after NORWOOD TEAGUE resigned last August." UM then "hired MARK COYLE away from Syracuse to be the AD last month." At UConn, Goetz will be working under AD DAVID BENEDICT, "who worked with her at Minnesota under Teague" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 6/9)....Georgia Tech named former Appalachian State Univ. Assistant AD/Sports Information MIKE FLYNN Assistant AD/Communications & PR (ASU)....Spectra by Comcast Spectacor promoted New England Regional VP MIKE SCANLON to Senior VP/Arenas & Stadiums. He will begin on Monday and will report directly to President & COO GLEN BRANDENBURG (Spectra).
