Stanford Standout Mariah Stackhouse Signs Deal With KPMG, Joining Mickelson, Lewis

KPMG has signed a deal to sponsor former Stanford Univ. golfer Mariah Stackhouse, who recently turned pro. Stackhouse will wear the KPMG logo on the front of her hat at all golf-related appearances (KPMG). GOLF DIGEST's Ron Sirak notes the only other golfers KPMG "has in the fold" are Phil Mickelson and Stacy Lewis. Stackhouse, who has signed with Sterling Sports Management, "doesn’t know when and where she will make her debut as a pro." She said that she will "try to play as many Symetra Tour events as she can, explore Monday qualifiers for LPGA tournaments and keep an eye out for the six LPGA sponsor’s exemptions she is allowed." Sirak notes KPMG "is blazing a path other corporations would be wise to follow." There is "no better investment in sports marketing" than golfers, and there is "no better bargain in golf than female players, who are still making a fraction of what the men make." Another detail that was "not lost on KPMG" was the fact that Mickelson, Lewis and Stackhouse all "graduated from college" (GOLFDIGEST.com, 6/8).
