Chicagoland Speedway, Nickelodeon Excited About Ninja Turtles-Sponsored NASCAR Race

During an afternoon Q&A at the ’16 Intersport Brand Engagement Summit, Chicagoland Speedway President Scott Paddock and Nickelodeon Senior VP/Sports Marketing & Development Anthony DiCosmo talked about the network’s sponsorship of the Sept. 18 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400. DiCosmo reminded the audience that the Ninja Turtles are 32 years old and are not just a play for kids. He said, “There’s a great opportunity, this co-viewing opportunity, (that) you want to take advantage of while you’re here. NASCAR is a sport where, if you’re a dad, it’s a great opportunity to share that once-in-a-lifetime moment with your kid.” DiCosmo said of the net's marketing of TMNT, “When I was growing up, the Turtles were so big. But as big as it was the first time around, right now what we’re doing dwarfs that.” Paddock said of running the TMNT 400 in the fall while having a major motion picture debut tomorrow, “We’re having fun with our Turtle Tuesdays now. Every Tuesday we do Turtle trivia, and give out gift cards for the movie release. ... There’s just no shortage of activation opportunity with something like this.”
