Indian Wells Upgrades Continue With Maligned Raymond Moore Still In Charge Of Facility

Upgrades to the facilities at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden will "proceed as planned over the next several months, with efforts still led" by former BNP Paribas Open Tournament Dir & CEO Raymond Moore, according to Andrew John of the Palm Springs DESERT SUN. Moore resigned in March after his controversial comments about the WTA, but he "has maintained his position" as Indian Wells Tennis Garden CEO. Improvements to the site have "continued since the end of this year's event." Such upgrades to the site "include an expanded workout area for players, upgrading and expanding concession and open shaded areas in Stadium 1, refurbishing all of the restrooms and adding more." Such work will "continue throughout the summer and into the later part of the year." Improvements will also include "upgrading and expanding the suites, adding a new private venue for club members," and creating a "new two-story Players' Services building, all of which is planned to be completed" by next March. However, John notes Moore's continued presence at the tournament site "has frustrated some in the women's tennis community" (Palm Springs DESERT SUN, 6/1).
