Clippers' Carl Lahr Enters 35th Year With Team, Ranks Third In NBA In Continuous Service

Clippers Senior VP/Sales & Service CARL LAHR leads the team with 35 years of continuous service and "ranks third among all NBA executives in that category," a "longer stretch than even" longtime Clippers play-by-play broadcaster RALPH LAWLER, according to Bill Plaschke of the L.A. TIMES. This week marks the 35th anniversary of Lahr's tenure with the Clippers, and he unofficially "leads the league in praise from folks for whom his longevity under difficult circumstances induces quiet awe." Lahr "sold for the Clippers through nearly 2,000 losses, a crumbling arena, a crummy owner and a lingering curse he refuses to acknowledge." He "sold for the Clippers when nobody was buying, everybody was laughing, and somebody was always suing." Plaschke: "Has anybody in Southland sports ever had a tougher job? Has anybody survived such a job for longer?" Lahr said, "I haven't seen everything, but I've almost seen everything, and I've seen some things twice. ... This was my dream job. And it still is" (L.A. TIMES, 5/29).
