Aubrey McClendon's Widow Wants To Buy His Share Of Thunder, But Obstacles Exist

Former Chesapeake Energy Founder & CEO Aubrey McClendon's widow, Kathleen, "wants to purchase her late husband's stake in the Thunder, but creditors have already raised concerns about having oversight of such a sale," according to Wilmoth & Bailey of the OKLAHOMAN. McClendon held roughly 20% ownership in the Thunder that "could be worth as much" as $190M. McClendon's estate attorney Martin Stringer said that the Thunder interest is "not for sale." Stringer: "Everybody focuses on this Thunder interest. And at this time the Thunder interest is not for sale and might not ever be for sale because there's certain qualifications with the NBA and many other things." Wilmoth & Bailey noted McClendon's stake in the team is "further complicated because it has been used as collateral in personal loans" (OKLAHOMAN, 5/27).
