Tennis player SERENA WILLIAMS in the past six months has "fallen in love with Snapchat," and now favors the app "above Twitter, Instagram or Facebook because unlike those social networks it doesn't give users a place to comment." Williams: "I absolutely love that about Snapchat. I don't have to deal with the really mean trolls out there and the comments. I don't read comments, but then there is always some that kind of pop up" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 5/25).

DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION: MMA fighter PAIGE VANZANT came in second in the latest season of ABC’s “DANCING WITH THE STARS,” finishing behind model NYLE DIMARCO. ABC’s Erin Andrews said to VanZant, “So close, but you went from somebody that had a hard time being up close to your partner to now ruling the ballroom floor.” VanZant: “I’m just thankful that I got to have this opportunity and I’m going to remember it forever” (“DWTS,” ABC, 5/24).

COURT REPORT: NFL free agent RYAN MUNDY in a lawsuit filed in Cook County (Ill.) Circuit Court yesterday claimed a cut above his right eyebrow he received during an exhibition game in '14 "was due to a defect in his helmet," which was manufactured by Illinois-based Schutt Sports." Mundy is "asking for unspecified damages in the suit." Mundy also "claimed Schutt Sports knew about the helmet defect and failed to warn him" (CHICAGO SUN-TIMES, 5/25)....An arbitration panel of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority on Monday ordered Morgan Stanley to pay former NBAer KEYON DOOLING and former NFLer JOHN ST. CLAIR $819,300 because of the negligent supervision of its broker, AARON PARTHEMER, in connection with two investments recommended by him. Parthemer, who has since been barred from the securities industry, recommended that both Dooling and St. Clair invest in sports apparel start-up Global Village Concerns and that Dooling invest in Miami-based nightclub Club Play (FINRA)....Red Sox DH DAVID ORTIZ has been awarded "more than $300,000 in damages in a lawsuit stemming from low-quality jewelry" sold to him "under false pretenses" in '10 by RANDY HAMIDA and his California-based company Randy's Mens Wear (BOSTON GLOBE, 5/25).
