Facility Notes

In Sacramento, Dale Kasler cites plans filed this week as showing that the city's proposed MLS stadium "would seat 19,621 fans at first, but could be expanded to as many as 25,000." The stadium also "could hold up to 2,000 standing-room-only patrons for special events such as the MLS All-Star Game or major concerts." Exactly when the stadium would get built "remains unclear." Republic FC execs have said that they "could probably get a project done" by '18 (SACRAMENTO BEE, 5/20).

WAHL BALL: In Atlanta, J. Scott Trubey reports the Braves and partner Fuqua Development on Thursday announced "several new signed tenants at The Battery Atlanta, including burger concept Wahlburgers by chef Paul Wahlberg and his actor brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg." Cordish Cos. also plans several concepts, including a PBR Bar & Grill "featuring a mechanical bull" (ATLANTA JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION, 5/20).

STUDY HALL: USF AD Mark Harlan on Thursday said that a feasibility study into an on-campus football stadium "would forge on and that he's 'in discussions with leaders' about conference realignment." How a stadium would be financed "remains a far more difficult question than where it would be located." Harlan said that "no time frame exists on the study's completion" (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 5/20).

CAR & DRIVER: Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey signed into law Thursday a bill providing more than $40M to promote races at Phoenix Int'l Raceway from fiscal years '22-51 "provided the track incurs projects costs" of at least $100M beginning next year (NBCSPORTS.com, 5/19).
