Sports Business Awards: MLBAM Wins Best In Digital Sports Media

MLBAM won Best in Digital Sports Media on the heels of a breakthrough ’15 that included large-scale deals with the NHL and PGA Tour, the official formation of the BAM Tech unit servicing outside entities, and a long-coveted in-market live streaming deal with Fox Sports, in addition to record consumption for baseball’s own digital products. The hockey and golf deals in particular represented a rare collaboration between major sports properties on core digital media assets. MLBAM Exec VP/Content Dinn Mann credited the stalwart support and leadership of MLB Commissioner Emeritus Bud Selig and current MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, as well as the vision of MLB President of Business & Media Bob Bowman and Committee Chair and Royals Owner David Glass. “This year brought a lot of things together for us that were a long time in coming,” Mann said. “We were able to realize a lot of really great potential, and that only happens with ingenuity and determination. Bob has always said our goal is to optimize the business, and not maximize the business, and we’ve been able to do that. And when you have the kind of institutional support we have and have always had, you’re able to overcome obstacles and solve problems.”
