ESPN Renews, Expands Partnership With Special Olympics With New Three-Year Deal

ESPN has extended and enlarged its relationship with the Special Olympics through a new three-year contract to keep the sports media giant as an official media partner through ’19 and a renewal and expansion of its status as a global presenting sponsor of Special Olympics Unified Sports. Financial terms were not disclosed, but ESPN’s partnership with the Special Olympics received a brief mention during yesterday’s Upfront presentation in N.Y. The deals will see ESPN continue an official broadcaster for the ’17 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria, the ’18 Special Olympics USA Games in Seattle, and ’19 Special Olympics Summer Games. ESPN has held the global presenting sponsorship since ’13. “We’ve been reminded of the profound impact sport can have, and inspired by the incredible moments and stories we’ve brought to millions of fans,” said ESPN President John Skipper. “Inclusion and acceptance are values we believe in.”
