April ComScore Rankings Show ESPN Opening Up Visitor Lead Over Competitors

ESPN in April led comScore’s rankings of domestic multiplatform digital reach among sports entities for the 26th straight month, and opened up a lead of nearly 27 million unique visitors from its nearest competitors. The margin in reach is ESPN’s largest since January, but the sports media giant continues to have a much closer battle with the Yahoo Sports-NBC Sports Network digital alliance on consumption metrics. ESPN’s average time spent per visitor of 73.2 minutes edged out an average of 69.5 minutes per visitor for the Yahoo Sports-NBC Sports entry. WWE also re-entered the list at No. 15, fueled in part by heavy streaming totals for WrestleMania 32 on April 3. And with the start of baseball season last month, MLB surged in consumption metrics, rising from 702 million minutes in time spent during March to more than 2.6 billion in April, and ranking third in time spent per visitor with 63.9 minutes.
