Rebel Ventures Hires Former NHL Exec Michael DiLorenzo As East Coast GM

L.A.-based digital sports and technology firm Rebel Ventures has hired former NHL exec MICHAEL DILORENZO as its GM of East Coast operations. DiLorenzo was Senior Dir of Social Media Marketing & Strategy for the NHL, where he worked from ’07-12. He then moved on to exec roles with online retailer Rue La La and startup alcohol e-commerce outfit Drizly. DiLorenzo will be based in Boston and report to Rebel Ventures CEO CRAIG HOWE. DiLorenzo and Rebel Ventures have a prior history, as the company did some social networking research work for the NHL during his time with the league. “I’ve obviously had a chance to see firsthand the kind of innovative work these guys are doing, and we saw a potent opportunity to expand what can be offered with a real East Coast presence,” DiLorenzo said. “And for me, being back at the intersection of pro sports and emerging platforms, I couldn’t be happier.” Rebel Ventures clients have included Real Madrid, Liverpool FC, the Bulls, Warriors and 49ers, among others.
