Rojo Hospitality, SMG Win Concession, Facility Contracts For Univ. Of Phoenix Stadium

The NFL Cardinals' Rojo Hospitality and Pennsylvania-based SMG "have won concessions and facility management contracts, respectively," at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium, according to Mike Sunnucks of the PHOENIX BUSINESS JOURNAL. The Arizona Sports & Tourism Authority, which owns the venue, "picked Rojo over Aramark to run concessions." Rojo has had the stadium concession deal since" '10, and Aramark was the "only other bidder for that contract." The authority's BOD also "picked a management bid from SMG over one from Spectra." SMG was "previously Global Spectrum and managed the stadium since it opened" in '06. Authority officials said that the management deal is "for five years and includes an immediate" $1.5M capital investment by SMG "for stadium improvements." The concessions contract also is for five years. Rojo also would also put $1.05M "into the stadium up front" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/10).
