WNBA Unveiling Revamped League Pass, Including Single-Game, Team Packages

The WNBA is revamping its Live Access package, renaming it WNBA League Pass, and will includes new features for the league’s 20th season. In addition to fans being able to subscribe to a full season of out-of-market games for $16.99, the WNBA is now offering full-season team and single-game passes for $9.99 and $1.99, respectively. Prior to the ’15-16 season, the NBA launched single-game and team passes for its league pass. NBA Senior VP/Digital Products & Emerging Technology Mike Allen said, “The NBA saw a 10% increase this year. ... We’re optimistic that we’ll see similar type of growth.” While nationally televised games will not be available through the WNBA League Pass, those games will be available through its archives. Games will also be accessible through social media, as the WNBA will promote games with new “watch” links on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Fans who click the links will be directed to the WNBA app where they can access games. Allen: “We heard our fans on social media and in emails we received that our fans wanted these choices. More importantly, we’re trying to eliminate friction on social media for fans to purchase and watch these games.” The package will be available on WNBA.com, iOS and Android devices as well as Apple TV and Google Chromecast via the WNBA app.
