MLBAM Unveils MLB Plus To Show Advanced Stats In Alternative Online Game Broadcast

MLBAM has developed a new vehicle called MLB Plus to deploy Statcast and the many other advanced statistical measures it has created. The offering is set up as an alternative online live-game broadcast to regular home and away feeds, with the MLB Plus production focused heavily on metrics such as exit velocity, spin rate, outfield positioning, runner leads and other higher-end data measures. Real-time graphics measuring metrics such as these are supplemented by analytics-oriented commentary from MLB.com correspondents and contributors including Mike Petriello, Jim Duquette, Will Leitch, Alyson Footer, Fernando Perez and Daron Sutton, among others. After a soft launch last week, MLB Plus will be offered again for Friday's Red Sox-Yankees game, and continue on with three more games this month that are also MLB Network Showcase games. MLB Plus feeds are available through most of MLB.tv's distribution points, including online, iOS and Android devices, Apple TV, Xbox and PlayStation devices, and Amazon Fire. Amazon Web Services, which is a presenting sponsor of Statcast, also is sponsoring MLB Plus, with existing league wireless partner T-Mobile additionally involved.
