StubHub Introduces 360-Degree Views At Some Venues With More To Come

StubHub now "allows ticket-buyers to preview a 360-degree view from every section at Wrigley Field through its free mobile app," according to Amina Elahi of the CHICAGO TRIBUNE. With the new 3D feature, which went live this week, fans "can see what's above, behind and all around the section you're considering, making it easier to see if the seat you're looking at is under an awning or near a pillar." StubHub Head of Product & Mobile Apps Marcus Shelksohn said, "The main idea behind this project was to really give users a better sense of what their seats look like prior to the transaction." Elahi notes StubHub previously "allowed users to view static images from various sections." Shelksohn said that the 360-degree previews of an empty Wrigley are currently "only for Cubs games." Concerts and other events at the stadium "have different configurations and require additional renderings, which StubHub says it hasn't made yet." The ticket broker "began rolling out seat previews in late March," starting with AT&T Park and NRG Stadium. It is "now also available" for Fenway Park, Dodger Stadium, Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. Shelksohn said that StubHub is "looking at other sports venues for the feature." N.Y.-based online ticket seller Rukkus in April "added Seat360, a similar feature, but with panoramic photos instead of renderings" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/6).
