Inaugural Int'l Women's Golf Day Slated For June 7 In At Least 12 Countries

Organizers of the Int'l Women's Golf Day will hold their inaugural event on June 7 in at least 12 countries. The WGD, founded last summer by golf industry vet Elisa Gaudet, is designed to help grow the game among women. The one-day, four-hour format is to be held between 4:00-8:00pm local time around the world where golfers can take a lesson or play nine holes for two hours and then spend two hours networking and socializing at various participating clubs and courses. Countries outside the U.S. participating include the U.K, Canada, South Africa and Ireland. Gaudet said there is no charge to facilities participating in the WGD, though it is up to each course or facility whether to charge for their event. Gaudet: "Each location is its own micro-event. It was sprung out of the fragmentation in the golf space for women. Women’s Golf Day is an opportunity for golf facilities to host a women-welcoming event that works for women in their community as well as for their facility."
