The Cowboys yesterday announced that 20 or so tenants are planned to join the team at its new The Star in Frisco HQ, which "is expected to open" in early '17, according to Valerie Wigglesworth of the DALLAS MORNING NEWS. Tenants include Frisco-based Next Step Dance, which "trains more than 700 youths in a variety of dance forms," as well as a Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip and Tupelo Honey Café, among others. The team yesterday also announced that the Cowboys Ring of Honor Walk will be one of the The Star's "signature features that will honor the team and history." The Star in addition will have a Cowboys Ring of Honor "for local leaders in a rotating showcase." Both will "be presented by" long-standing partner Dr Pepper. The Star "features a unique partnership among the Cowboys, the city of Frisco" and the Frisco Independent School District. They are "sharing the costs on 20 acres for The Ford Center at The Star." The stadium -- "along with two outdoor practice fields for the Cowboys and an underground parking garage -- make up the city-owned portion of the development." The price tag for that city-owned portion on Tuesday "climbed" to $261.6M. Frisco's "contribution in The Star is capped" at $60M while the school district put in $30M. The Cowboys "are funding the remaining amount" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/5). In Dallas, David Moore notes Cowboys players "are scheduled to move into the facility and use it for the first time when the team returns from training camp in late August" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 5/5).
