Media Notes

In Houston, Greg Rajan noted the reporter whose questions about the Houston floods "went viral and angered" Warriors F Draymond Green "reportedly has been fired." CSN Bay Area Warriors reporter Henry Wofford yesterday tweeted that the reporter "was relieved of his duties an hour after the infamous news conference." Between Games 3 and 4, Green was "asked about the flooding the Houston area experienced last week." Then after the Warriors' Game 4 win, the reporter "asked Green an awkwardly worded question about the Warriors' and their playoff visits to Houston the past two seasons." Wofford tweeted the person fired was a "1st year reporter, born and raised in China." He was "working for a Chinese publication, but based in Houston" (CHRON.com, 4/26).

RIGGLE ROOM: DEADLINE.com's Nellie Andreeva reported TBS "has given a pilot order to 'Rob Riggle’s Sportsbook,' a weekly late-night program showing the humor in the 24-hour digital cycle of sports, talk, news and entertainment." Riggle will "host and executive produce the show, which aims to combine his love of sports with his comedy and improvisational skills" (DEADLINE.com, 4/26).

SWITCHING FIELDS: Fox Sports soccer announcer John Strong said of adjusting to the broadcast booth, "The biggest thing for me is I had to stop being a fan. In 2011, the Timbers are in MLS, I’m calling the games and I was still a fan. I still had the emotions, particularly when I called games on the radio. I sort of had to learn that, not even just because I had aspirations of being a national broadcaster, but if I had to do my job properly I can’t live emotionally with the ups and the downs and the results. You have to distance yourself just to do your job properly" (PORTLAND BUSINESS JOURNAL, 4/22 issue).
