Hurricanes Owner PETER KARMANOS JR. has "dived into the residential mortgage-lending business" with Michigan-based start-up Lenderful, which "offers home mortgages through the Internet." Lenderful "markets itself as an all-online mortgage platform" that looks not unlike the Rocket Mortgage service introduced late last year by Cavaliers Owner DAN GILBERT's Quicken Loans (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 4/25).

STEINBERG SAYS: In California, Ryan Kartje profiled NFL agent LEIGH STEINBERG, whose plans for Steinberg Sports & Entertainment includes ambitious "save-the-world projects ranging from reality TV to anti-bullying campaigns to climate change." Steinberg is "writing a proposal for his third and fourth books, planning another iteration of his mentorship program 'Agent Academy,' and acting as co-producer on an upcoming KEVIN COSTNER movie" about longtime client JUNE JONES. For Steinberg there are "more movie scripts, speaking opportunities, reality TV offers, an endless string of radio show invites and weekly columns for Forbes and Yahoo." There is also "saving the world from climate change and bullying and the like" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 4/24).

SUPPORT THE CAUSEANDY MURRAY will "stage his own charity tennis event" at the SSE Hydro Glasgow on Sept. 21. The event will "feature Murray and his brother JAMIE" as well as tennis players GAEL MONFILS and TIM HENMAN. All of the profits from "Andy Murray Live" will go to UNICEF and Glasgow-based charity Young People's Futures (London INDEPENDENT, 4/22)....Warriors G STEPHEN CURRY, with support from Malaria No More and USAID, helped launch the Call Your Shot campaign on Saturday "just two days before World Malaria Day." The campaign's concept is to film and make "your version of a trick shot, share it with the #CallYourShot hashtag and challenge your friends to donate at CallYourShot.org" (USATODAY.com, 4/23).
