Padres Announce Recipients Of ASG Legacy Projects Totaling Nearly $5M

MLB and the Padres today announced the recipients of planned All-Star Game legacy projects totaling nearly $5M. Beneficiaries include the Club de Ninos y Ninas de Mexico in Tijuana, Mexico, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater San Diego, the San Pasqual Academy in Escondido, Calif., the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA in San Diego, Monarch School and National Veterans Transition Services Inc., each in San Diego. Money from the league’s All-Star Legacy Initiative will also be donated to longtime partners Stand Up 2 Cancer, the Prostate Cancer Foundation and Susan G. Komen, among others. This year’s All-Star Game will be held July 12 at Petco Park. Meanwhile, the Padres over the weekend announced a partnership with local non-profit Pedal the Cause that will see the team take a larger role in planning, promoting and executing the annual two-day cycling event. The '16 Padres Pedal the Cause is scheduled for Nov. 12-13 at Petco Park. Funds raised by the event go to cancer research and treatment centers in San Diego.
