As a fan and regular wearer of KYMIRA Sport base layers, I have been asked to help introduce their latest innovation – KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants. As an avid snowboarder, who has experienced the positive effects of KYnergy for myself, I am genuinely excited about the new KYMIRA Sport range.
In order to step into the outerwear market, KYMIRA Sport has put their existing patented infrared technology into insulation. The insulation is more breathable, lighter, warmer and more water-resistant than traditional insulation. Plus, it has added infrared benefits.
How KYMIRA Sport infrared technology works
Before introducing KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants you need to know how it works. Put simply, their clothing contains 14 thermo-reactive minerals, that absorb body heat, reflecting back a specific wavelength of infrared that improves performance and enhances recovery.
Of course, it is a little more complicated than that, and there is a lot of science behind it. Check out the KYMIRA Sport website for a detailed explanation of how the patented KYnergy technology can reduce pain, improve performance and speed up your recovery.
Introducing KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants
To create KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants, the KYnergy technology has been transferred from baselayers to insulation. The insulation is then added to clothing in place of traditional insulation.
The KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants then have all the benefits of infrared discussed above. But the advantages do not stop there.
During third party tests comparing KYMIRA Sport insulation to traditional insulation, it was found to be up to 66% warmer, 41% lighter, 25% more breathable and 99% more water resistant. In my mind, an utterly staggering performance and that’s before you consider the positive infrared effects.
When Tim Brownstone first set up KYMIRA Sport in 2013 he got the business underway via crowdfunding. He plans to do the same again for KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants.
Working with an Italian manufacturer, they have produced prototype jackets and pants that come with the standard ski features. Such as storm proof zips, inner and outer pockets, lift pass pocket and pit zips. The other shell has a waterproof rating of 5000 mm.
They have gone for the KYMIRA colours of black with red detailing, which certainly won’t be out of place on the mountain. There is the option of classic or minimal branding and they come in a full range of sizes for both men and women.
With the test products ready they’ve launched a crowdfunding campaign to help raise money to pay for the production of the first batch of KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants. They are seeking backers, all of whom will get something in return.
As a big thank you, those backing £15 or more will receive existing KYMIRA Sport base layer products and/or gear from the new outerwear range. My experience using KYMIRA Sport base layers
Earlier this year I was handed a set of KYMIRA Sport infrared base layers to test. At first, I was skeptical about whether they would work, however during my first run I noticed an improvement in performance and a reduction in niggly pains from old injuries. After running I also ached less than normal.
I then tested them snowboarding. Initially, my friend wore them, as he was suffering from knee problems and was worried he would not be able to snowboard. After being in pain within an hour when not wearing them, he then spent a whole day pain-free whilst wearing them.
On my next snowboarding trip, I wore the KYMIRA Sport base layers overnight and found my normal next day aches to be almost completely eradicated. Much to the hilarity of friends, I have been wearing them as ‘recovery pajamas’ overnight on all my snowboarding trips since. I’ve found they make a huge difference to how achy I feel the next day.
I have also worn them out on the slopes for a day. I found that they worked great as a replacement for traditional thermals, regulating my temperature and wicking sweat away well. They also stopped niggly aches and pains, kept me feeling ‘warmed up’, and I believe helped me stay out snowboarding for longer.
Why I’m backing KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants?
Having a hugely positive first-hand experience of using KYMIRA Sport products, I am excited to find out how well their insulation works in winter sports clothing. So I will be backing them in their crowdfunding campaign.
Although they are producing this first batch of KYMIRA infrared ski jackets and pants, if proven successful I can see their insulation being used by many of the big ski and outdoor brands. Not just for ski clothing but all outdoor wear that needs insulation and even sleeping bags.
Many of the big outdoor brands already use third party insulation such as Primaloft and Polartec, so if they wish to embrace infrared technology I can see them incorporating KYMIRA Sport insulation into their products. Very exciting times ahead for KYMIRA Sport!
