Manziel Loses Marketing Deal With Nike; Rosenhaus Terminates Representation

Former Browns QB Johnny Manziel has "lost his biggest marketing deal," as he is "no longer an endorser" of Nike, according to Darren Rovell of ESPN.com. Sources said that Nike "terminated the deal some time after the NFL season ended." In addition, a source said that Manziel's deal with Panini America "has expired," though the sports collectibles company is "still selling Manziel products on its site." Rovell noted Nissan and MusclePharm also are "no longer promoting an association" with the former Heisman Trophy winner. Other deals Manziel signed his rookie year, including with Snickers and McDonald's, "were one-off commercial spots"(ESPN.com, 4/20). CNBC.com's Jessica Golden noted the news of Nike dropping Manziel "comes on the same day that Manziel's second agent, Drew Rosenhaus, terminated his contract." Rosenhaus said that he "no longer represented Manziel after giving him a 5-day ultimatum to seek treatment that went unanswered" (CNBC.com, 4/19).
