WNBA Storm Reach Sponsorship Deal With Swedish Medical, Will Feature New Jerseys

The WNBA Seattle Storm this season will have new jerseys that "sport the markings of Swedish Medical, thanks to a multiyear deal announced Thursday," according to Stefanie Loh of the SEATTLE TIMES. The Storm said that this deal is "more lucrative than the deal" the team had with Bing from '10-13 "that was worth more than" $1M annually. However, Swedish and Storm officials declined to disclose the deal's length and financial details. Storm President & GM Alisha Valavanis said that the deal with Swedish "is unique because it includes a medical-care component." Beginning this season, Swedish Medical "will become the Storm's official medical-care provider." Loh notes the partnership between the Storm and Swedish Medical also "will emphasize" community initiatives and marketing. Additionally, the ribbon boards at KeyArena, the Storm’s training room and the court’s floor apron in front of the benches "will feature Swedish Medical’s logos." Swedish Medical is also the official medical-services sponsor of the NWSL Seattle Reign (SEATTLE TIMES, 4/15). In Seattle, Coral Garnick reported this is the first time in three years the Storm has "had a marquee sponsor." Valavanis said that it was a "priority when she was brought on board almost two years ago." Valavanis: "I was hired and a primary objective was to identify and work toward a marquee partnership with a local organization" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/14).
