The HOLLYWOOD REPORTER's Scott Feinberg profiled WFAN-AM's Mike Francesa, who is "exploring uncharted territory that might welcome sports talk with a built-in following." Francesa said, "It's becoming a content-driven, multiplatform business. ... Apple, Google, Facebook, Amazon -- they're all gonna be huge content players. They're all gonna be in sports." Feinberg noted Francesa claims he has "already received overtures from one of the above" about his next career move, but he "won't engage in negotiations with anyone until his current contract ends" at the end of '17 (HOLLYWOODREPORTER.com, 4/12).

OPENING DAY HOMER: In Chicago, Lewis Lazare noted the Cubs' home opener Monday against the Reds "was a big winner" for WGN-CW, as the game "averaged an impressive 11.3 rating and peaked at an even more potent 14.4 rating." The rating was "the highest notched for a Cubs telecast" on the channel since May '08 (BIZJOURNALS.com, 4/13).
