NBA Kings, Kaiser Permanente Partner On Sports Medicine Facility At Golden 1 Center

The NBA Kings and Kaiser Permanente have signed a deal that will put a sports medicine facility within the team’s new Golden 1 Center opening this fall. The 18,000-square-foot clinic will be built within the team’s practice center to provide treatment to players and the public. Kaiser Permanente is a longtime Kings sponsor. The Kings are the latest NBA team to partner with a healthcare provider in building a sports medicine clinic. The T'Wolves in October '14 opened a 20,000-square-foot clinic adjacent to Target Center (John Lombardo, Staff Writer). Kaiser in its release noted that the facility "will be used to diagnose and treat injuries related to sports or recreational activities." In Sacramento, Hudson Sangree notes the clinic will also "focus on early intervention and correcting athletic performance and training to prevent injuries." It will "include a 7,000-square-foot gym and simulated environments to rehabilitate patients injured while playing basketball, soccer, football baseball and golf or running" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 4/13).
