Sporting KC Expands Relationship With Tech Firm Experience For New Mobile Ticket Options

Sporting KC has expanded its partnership with tech outfit Experience, with the club now offering additional mobile ticket options, as well as upgraded seats and VIP experiences. Through the club’s official app, Sporting KC Uphoria, season-ticket members will be able to return unused tickets for credit that will enable them to purchase a larger group of tickets in other parts of the stadium, seat upgrades or VIP experiences for future games, such as access to club areas, VIP parking or the ability to take photos on the pitch following a match. Also in partnership with Experience, the club now offers "The Sporting Kansas City Pass," which for $22 per pass, allows fans to sign up and receive a text notification when standing-room-only tickets become available on a matchday, with specific seat locations offered if available on the first come, first served basis. Later this season, fans will be able to purchase a multi-match subscription of a SRO ticket strip for designated matches. On match days, they will receive text notifications if they receive a complimentary upgrade. The club has sold out 73 consecutive matches. Sporting KC VP/Ticket Sales & Service Gregg Allen said, "We’re always trying to find new and innovative ways to drive fan experience, and really create long-lasting memories for them. With these new options, we’re also enhancing the value inside the app, which is tremendous for us.”

CREATING MORE OPTIONS: The MLS club has worked with Experience since '14 on a number of ticket options and upgrades, continuing to offer more each year. Experience Senior VP/Product, Sales & Marketing Junior Gaspard said while their NBA, MLB and other pro sports clients use similar features, Sporting KC is the first club in MLS to use them. Among those clients, Gaspard noted that teams that also have a high-demand ticket, such as the Warriors, the pass product has been extremely welcomed by fans -- especially those that are able to snag tickets released close to game time due to league, sponsor or other last-minute holds. Gaspard: "In many cases, you’re able to connect with a fan who might have just bought from a broker before; now they’re able to build a relationship."
