Sources: Warriors Weighing Possibilities Of Uniform That Honors Oakland

The Warriors are "currently discussing the possibilities of a uniform that honors Oakland," where the team has played since '61, according to sources cited by Marcus Thompson of the SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS. Sources added that discussions have "been going on at length for more than a year," as the Warriors "weigh the options for an 'Oakland' alternate uniform as well as Oakland-centered merchandise" as they move to S.F. for the '19-20 season. If the Warriors "decide to go through with it, and there is strong support within the organization, the NBA would then have to approve the new uniforms per league guidelines." Introducing new uniforms is "usually a two-to-three-year process," which means the team "wouldn't be sporting Oakland on their chest" before the '17-18 season. Thompson noted Oakland fans for years have "wanted the team to specifically claim the city on its uniforms." The Warriors have "not officially decided to submit an Oakland alternate uniform to the NBA" (MERCURYNEWS.com, 4/9).
