Spieth Promoting Under Armour's Connected Fitness Network On Hat During Masters

Jordan Spieth's weekend wardrobe at The Masters will include an Under Armour cap "bearing the logo of UA Record, the brand's connected fitness network," according to Jeff Barker of the Baltimore SUN. The decision by Under Armour and Spieth to "promote UA Record at such a high-profile event illustrates the company's evolution." Analysts said that UA in the past few years "has moved from sports clothing-maker to fitness technology company specializing in performance-based apparel." UA in a release noted that Spieth "helped launch the UA Record platform" in '15 (Baltimore SUN, 4/7). Spieth recently said UA has "already made what I believe is the best clothing line," and the company is introducing a shoe line they want input from players on. But CNBC's Dominic Chu said golf is "not a huge part" of UA's business. Chu: "It's still growing and it's growing pretty quickly, but it's not a huge contributor yet. What they're hoping for is for golf to be one of those drivers going forward, for not just sales but profits as well" ("Fast money Halftime Report," CNBC, 4/7).
