People & Personalities: Pepper To Become First Woman To Be Part Of Masters Telecast

In Albany, Pete Dougherty noted CBS' Dottie Pepper will "make history" today when she "becomes the first woman to be part of a Masters telecast." Pepper, who in January was hired by CBS as an analyst/reporter, remains "employed by ESPN, where she has been doing 'SportsCenter' spots all week from Augusta National." Pepper's normal CBS work "is as a course reporter," and she will "be stationed in a tower off the 13th green" (Albany TIMES UNION, 4/6). In Augusta, John Boyette writes Pepper as a former LPGA player "knows the ins and outs of the game," as she "won 17 times in her professional career." Pepper has "spent the early part of the year adapting to her new colleagues" at CBS and "learning their system." Pepper, who has also covered golf for NBC and Golf Channel, said, "It's a different way CBS processes information than NBC. The biggest transition for me was new voices in my ear. Those are the voices you need to be keying on" (AUGUSTA CHRONICLE, 4/7).
