Indians Owner Paul Dolan insists that he still has "no plans to sell controlling interest of the team," according to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. This is the 17th season Dolan and his family will have owned the team, marking the "longest ownership group in the history of the franchise." He said, "It's an extraordinary thing to be involved with. It has enhanced our lives so much. It's such an important part of the community." Dolan said the team continues to be "open to a minority partner." Attendance at Progressive Field have been on the decline for five straight years, and Dolan said, "We'd love to see it improve. But I also know what has happened in Cleveland over the years and what has happened in baseball." He added that the team is "working on things to attract more fans." Pluto noted Progressive Field "has received a major upgrade," and the Indians will have about a $90M payroll this season, "putting them in the bottom 25 percent" of MLB. Dolan: "Our budget is set up not to make money. There have been some years where we made money, but we put it back into the team. Most years, we've not made money" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/2). Meanwhile, Pluto reported while the Indians are not "dropping the Chief Wahoo logo," it is "obvious they are moving away from it." Dolan said, "We have gone to the Block C as our primary mark. Clearly, we are using it more heavily than we are the Chief Wahoo logo." Dolan stressed the team has "no plans to get rid of Chief Wahoo, it is part of our history and legacy" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 4/2).
