On The Up & Up: Krzyzewski, Calipari Top List Of Highest-Paid College Hoops Coaches

There are 24 coaches who were part of the NCAA Tournament that are "making at least" $2M this season, while 11 other coaches make that much "whose teams didn't play in the event," according to a front-page piece by Berkowitz & Schnaars of USA TODAY. This is up from 11 tournament coaches at the $2M level just five years ago. By comparison, 10 coaches this season made $3M or more. Duke's Mike Krzyzewski "tops the survey" based on the $7.3M he made in '13. Kentucky's John Calipari leads public schools with nearly $6.9M "during a contract year that ended" yesterday. Three Final Four coaches -- Syracuse's Jim Boeheim, Oklahoma's Lon Kruger and Villanova's Jay Wright -- "are at more" than $2.1M. North Carolina's Roy Williams earns "slightly less" than $2M from the school, though he does have "personal contracts with a shoe-and-apparel manufacturer and a multimedia rights company" that are not included (USA TODAY, 3/31).
