Lions' Overhaul Includes First Full-Time Dietitian, Revamped Marketing Department

The Lions' transformation has "touched just about every corner of the franchise," from "new scouts, to new personnel executives, to a new president, to a new weight room, to a new strength coach, to an entirely new-look marketing department," according to Kyle Meinke of MLIVE.com. The shift away from the team's previous regime also includes the addition of Team Performance Dietitian Sarah Snyder as a "full-time staffer to oversee player nutrition." This is "a new thing for Detroit, and is at the cutting edge of what other teams around the league are doing." Lions GM Bob Quinn said that he "found eight to 10 teams have a full-time nutritionist on staff, and he wanted the franchise to keep pace." Quinn: "We wanted to get somebody this offseason because if we waited until next offseason, another five or six teams are going to have one" (MLIVE.com, 3/30).
